Here we called up few issues regarding Proton Exora (Proton MPV) before Malaysian knows its name. The first controversial issue was the design of Proton MPV (Proton Exora) which some said related to Chery Eastar, Mazda8 MPV, Lotus APX or Proton MSX and Toyota Wish. Then we make the actual conclusion that the proton exora is based on Chery Eastar a chinese made MPV when we saw the chassis at the Proton Tech Week and the picture of exora at TV3 news.

Proton Exora Spec

On Proton MPV expected to hit the road expected then in March 2009, when Proton said the company was confident it would receive good response from members of the public with big families.

Besides offering a bigger space, They said, the proton exora would be competitive and give an advantage in terms of pricing over imported cars.

On Proton MPV’s overseas markets, Syed Zainal Abidin said the company would take it to Southeast Asian countries like Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam next year.

“The following year, Proton plans to market the Proton Exora to China,” he said.

Can the Proton exora compete with Chery eastar then? Only they would know how to tackle the buyer. Now the closest competitor of Proton Exora is the Chery Eastar. Lets see how far this two MPV can compete each other in terms of sales and reliability.

The proton MPV Exora rides on a 2800 mm (110.2-in.) long platform. Main dimensions are: 4662 x 1820 x 1590 mm (183.5 x 71.6 x 62.6-in.).

Then we received an uncovered picture of exterior of a clay model of the Proton Exora from one of KDI reader. It shows the true shape of this Proton MPV. No doubt and no guessing again then about the design of Proton EXORA MPV.

A few weeks later, Proton launch a naming contest for Proton MPV and today, the name already announced and it is the Proton EXORA. with theme of “keriangan berkeluarga”. Not a Proton Ixora, Proton Ezora or Proton Exzora. It is Proton EXORA!

Within the contest period, another leaked drawing image of Proton Exora from UK exposed on the internet.

A few words on the article we published about Proton Exora drawing plan:

“Dari segi saiz, Proton MPV mempunyai saiz yang lebih besar daripada dua model MPV daripada Jepun. Proton MPV mungkin akan termasuk dalam kategori Toyota Wish, Honda Stream dan Mazda5.Bahagian dalaman Proton MPV juga agak ringkas,asas tetapi kelihatan menarik.Proton juga telah mendengar pandangan orang ramai dan kehendak pasaran dan Proton MPV pasti membuat semua orang teruja!”

Syed Zainal Abidin said plans were also a foot to introduce the CKD version of Proton MPV EXORA in Iran by 2010. The Proton MPV or Proton MPV EXORA expected to be launched in the Malaysian market in March but then they postponed it to April 2009.

This Proton Exora expected to have a 1.6 litre engine with campro technology that surely enough to bring the big chassis anywhere. Some people said that 1.6 isn’t enough but hey, look at Toyota avanza 1.3litre, toyota rush 1.5litre and grand livina 1.6litre. Is there any problem on the performance of the engine? Plus with the Campro or most probably later with the CPS (Cam Profile Switching), surely enough for the Proton Exora to make you happy bringing your enother 6 relatives with you inside to any place.

Powered by 1.6-litre CamPro engine, the new Exora will open for booking exora from Feb 21 at all 293 Proton Edar and EON sales offices nationwide. The price of Proton Exora at below RM80,000 and the booking fee is set at RM1,000.

It is affordable, it is elegant, it is the one we are waiting for, our first MPV - The Proton EXORA -

hehe. lepas nie, tak lama jer lagi proton exora akan keluar dgn varian turbo. Sapa2 yg nakkan kuasa n prestasi sangat, turbo la penyelesaiannya. jgn la plak lepas nie komplen mahal la apa la. memang la turbo nie mahal sket.

Sapa2 yg dah guna Exora, bleh bg komen x ttg Exora…dr segi comfortable, power, fuel dan quality…kwn plan mcm nk amik Exora tp nk tau gak pandangan2 yg dah menggunakan nya….jika ada 5 star, baper exora dpt?

fordthrothle…dh dekat sebulan saya pakai Exora. Exora ada kelebihannya, dari segi exterior dan juga interior, teknikal dan mekanikal…saya sokong kpd En. Azmi di mana beliau telah memberi pandangannya ttg MPV Exora…mmg berbaloi kalau awak membeli Exora. Jgn rasa was2 lagi tepuk dada tanya selera…! Cuma bodykit belum keluar lagi dipasaran. Saya tgh menunggu nie…nak make-up sikit baru nampak gempaq.
